How to change from Samus to Zero Suit Samus in the beginning of a brawl
If you want to be Zero Suit Samus at the start of a brawl and not wait for a Smash Ball, just choose Samus from the character-selection menu, press and hold the Z button on your Nunchuk, (If you chose a different Shield button in the Options menu, press that instead) then proceed to the next screen. Choose a stage, then when you start the brawl, you’ll be Zero Suit Samus! Another way is to quickly taunt up and down.
